The Nuremberg Metropolitan Region was a 10-day centre for digitisation and networking.
In its seventh year, the Nürnberg Digital Festival was more mature, lively and dynamic than ever. With 330 events and an unprecedented range of themes, a wealth of venues and a variety of event organisers (museums, cultural offices, city libraries, media, etc.), this year's Nürnberg Digital Festival was broader than in previous years.
The annual class reunion of the digital scene
For the opening of the Nürnberg Digital Festival the annual press conference took place on Friday, 12.07.2019, in the Sellwerk (MüllerMedien). In order to take up the dynamic spirit and diversity of this year's festival, we have broken with the classic format of the press conference and created space for the Business, Science & Education and Art & Culture clusters. At the "Un-Press Conference", the panel participants had their say within the three clusters and explained the importance and influence of digitisation for networking, dynamics and innovation of companies and schools as well as the change of #nuedigital. While in its early years the Nürnberg Digital Festival was still the "nerd festival" for the local IT & software scene, #nuedigital has changed in recent years into a full-grown, professional festival that appeals to a wider audience.
Interactivity and new impulses
The fact that digitalization is omnipresent can be seen in the thematic breadth, professionalism and technical depth of the #nuedigital events. We at Kaltwasser Kommunikation were also enthusiastic about this year's variety of actors from various fields and the scope of the Nürnberg Digital Festival. That's why we diligently collected new impulses and exciting insights at various workshops and lectures in the fields of social media, audio and video production, digital journalism and much more. And the topic of agile working also found its place again: The workshop format "Agile Kitchen" developed by us brought the working method "Scrum" closer to about 50 participants this year.
What we particularly liked this year was that the workshops of the Nürnberg Digital Festival focused more on interactivity and the break with the strict separation of speakers and listeners. Be it at the workshop for Facebook Marketing for SMEs, for audiovisual content or at the 1st Social Media Day: practice, networking and exchange were always the focus. With small group work and best practice examples we could not only collect new impulses for the perfect social media strategy or camera and image design techniques for the shooting of videos, but also exchange ideas with our colleagues from different industries and profit from the knowledge of the #nuedigital community. From the auditorium we were able to participate in exciting discussions about fake news, social media and agility in working life. And that's exactly what the Nürnberg Digital Festival is all about: The large community of business, science and culture that meets once a year to exchange knowledge and experience.
